- What: This local performance has been running for 46 years and is the quintessential Minneapolis Nutcracker event. You'll see lots of little girls in festive red dresses enjoying their annual trip downtown for this Christmas tradition.

Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker
- Where: Orpheum Theater, 910 Hennepin Avenue, Downtown Minneapolis

- What: For the past 14 years, this delightful traveling version of the Nutcracker has toured the U.S.

The City Children's Nutcracker Project
- Where: Historic State Theater, 805 Hennepin Avenue, Downtown Minneapolis

- What: Thanks to the efforts of Ballet Arts Minnesota and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, local children between the ages of 8 and 12 receive dance lessons and perform this playful version of the Nutcracker at the State Theater.

Nutcracker?I (not so) Suite.
- Where: Ritz Theater, 345 13th Avenue NE, Minneapolis
- When: December 12-31, Thursday to Saturday 8:00 pm, Sunday 2:00 pm
- What: Here's a highly alternative Nutcracker performance featuring Ballet of the Dolls, a well-established dance company that puts creative spins on the classics. This performance includes Barbie & Ken dancers and music that ranges from Bing Crosby to Beyonce. There's also a "Naughty Nutcracker" on December 21, 28, and 31.

Ballet Minnesota Nutcracker

Stillwater Nutcracker Featuring St. Croix Ballet

- When: Thanksgiving weekend. November 23-25.
- What: This Thanksgiving Nutcracker kicks off the holiday season. It's designed to be family-friendly and includes a live narration.
