The Millennium Hotel Downtown MinneapolisLodging Adjacent to the Minneapolis Convention Center
The Millennium Hotel is centrally located in downtown Minneapolis. It offers great amenities but is in dire need of renovation in some areas.
Millennium Hotels can be found in over a dozen countries and almost every major city in the United States. Frequent travelers typically associate the Millennium name with luxury, comfort, modern amenities, high standards and excellence. Adjacent to the Minneapolis Convention Center, and just minutes away from the Hubert Humphrey Metrodome, many visitors to the downtown Minneapolis area choose to stay at the Millennium. The Millennium Minneapolis offers many of the amenities and services one would expect from this chain. Nonetheless, without more major renovations, this hotel is at risk of losing some of its grandeur. The Lobby/Reception Area at the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis Both the lobby and reception area reflect the Millennium name with black marble floors, gold and wrought iron staircases and plush carpet in colors of beige, black and gold. To the left of the door is the hotel's Martini Lounge offering a full service bar as well as a lunch and dinner menu. Just a few steps from the door on the right hand side one can check in or out at the hotel's front desk. Hotel Rooms at the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis Overnight guests at the Millennium Minneapolis can choose from four types of rooms. The standard room (referred to by the staff as a traditional room) offers a comfortable king size bed, oversized chair, work station, satellite television and in-room coffee maker. These rooms are adequate but in great need of renovation. Older carpets, furniture and wall paper are not typical of what one would expect from the Millennium name. Superior rooms are simply rooms that have been updated. Updates include newer carpet, wallpaper, beds/bedding, dressers, and a contemporary work station. A grand headboard with built in lighting and nightstands are the focal point of these rooms. For a more modern look, lounging chairs (still in older rooms) have been replaced with a side chair or small couch with ottoman. Some renovations were also made to the bathrooms in the superior rooms. This includes new sinks with under counter lighting, updated mirrors and fresh paint. Although the updates are very nice, older floor tiles, toilet and bathtub make the renovations appear incomplete. Club rooms have also been updated and have a similar layout to that of the Superior rooms. Added amenities include complimentary breakfast, turndown service, bathrobes and access to the business center. Millennium suites are idea for guests in need of a little more space. Rooms are divided into different sections including sleeping quarters, living space and a work area. Guests in suites enjoy all of the amenities offered to guests on the club level. Meetings, Conferences and Dining at the Millennium Hotel MinneapolisThe Millennium offers a variety of meeting rooms. Conference rooms are available to accommodate smaller groups, while two ballrooms are often used for larger parties. Wedding receptions and other special events are often held in the dome which offers a breathtaking view of the Twin Cities. Although the view is wonderful, this room is in dire need of renovation. The carpet needs replacing and tables and chairs used for events are worn and out of date. Additionally, as with some of the older rooms, there is a dank or stuffy smell in the dome which detracts considerably from the space. Amenities at the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis include:
The Millennium Hotel is within walking distance of most downtown destinations. It is also just a couple of blocks from Highway 35, offering accessibility to most main highways. Room rates at the Millennium Minneapolis range from $79 to well over $200 per night.
